IN THE TRENCHES: EX-ARMY RECRUIT JOINS JIM’S DIGGERS

After nine years in the army, Ryan Hucklebridge has signed up as Jim’s Diggers’ first Queensland franchisee.
After high risk postings in Afghanistan, Iraw and East Timor, Hucklebridge’s discharge request papers have been finalised and he can focus on his new business plans, centred around the north-side of Brisbane.
He decided to invest in the new arm of Jim’s Group after his final tour of duty last year, when he was renovating a house in Brisbane.
“At one point we needed to excavate the back yard so I hired I digger and did it myself. I thought to myself I really enjoy this, I could do this for a living.
“I liked the concept of Jim’s Diggers as I think it will really suit what I want to do. Also it’s a new start-up company with plenty of room for growth, plus it’s got the backing of a national brand. I thought ‘what a great opportunity’,” said Hucklebridge.
“The training and support I have received so far has been outstanding.
“I have been down to Melbourne for Jim’s initial group training, and then to Adelaide for specific Digger division training.”
The original Jim’s Diggers franchisee, Robert Ryan is in Victoria and in November last year, South Australia signed up its first franchisee, Brad Pitts.
With plans to expand around the country, Jim’s Diggers offers a full range of earthmoving services including trenching, site clean-ups, paving and landscaping preparation, pool and spa excavation, rock and concrete breaking, boring of holes for fences and retainer walls, concrete removal, tree stump removal and general excavation.
