YOUNG STORM PLAYERS DIG JIM’S SUPPORT

A chance meeting at last year’s Melbourne Cup between two former Queensland high school mates has led to a sponsorship deal between Jim’s Diggers and the Melbourne Storm’s Under 20 team.

Andy, the Jim’s Diggers Carnegie franchisee, now sponsors a weekly ‘Player’s Player’ award for the team, and also provides employment to one of the young players.

Andy ran into the newly appointed Storm’s Under 20 coach Anthony Seibold, at Flemington, and the two recognised each other from high school and football circles in Queensland.

“I had recently bought the Jim’s Diggers business, so I asked him if there was anything I could do to help and he suggested providing some work and onsite training to one of his players to help with their development outside of football. I now have Aleki Falepaini working for me on a casual basis and his willingness to learn and work ethic have impressed me.”
Coach Anthony is also impressed with the deal.

“Andy is very supportive of Akeki’s rugby commitments and will organise his work commitments around training and game times, so we are very appreciative of that,” he said.
